Position:Outbound Logistics ManagerLocation:Thika, KenyaReports To:Head of Supply Chain / COOAbout the Role:We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Outbound Logistics Manager to lead and optimise all outbound logistics operations across our expanding operations in Kenya and East Africa, as well as our international export markets. This is a critical leadership role responsible for ensuring that products reach our customers efficiently, cost-effectively, and on time, while leveraging our commercial fleets, transporters, and logistical partnerships.The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in FMCG logistics, strong strategic thinking, and a proven track record of managing complex logistics operations across multiple channels.Key Responsibilities:
Logistics & Distribution Management:
Oversee all aspects of outbound logistics, including order processing, dispatch, transportation, and fleet management with a view to constantly optimise the cost of delivery
Assume full accountability for Finished Goods (FG) warehouse operations, including inventory accuracy, labelling, space optimisation and strict adherence to FIFO for all outbound stock movements
Manage both commercial and non-commercial fleets, ensuring maximum utilisation, efficiency, and compliance with safety standards.
Ensure compliance with GMP's for all relevant activities in Logistics especially relating to maintenance of SOP's, training, materials control and tracking systems.
Ensure timely and accurate delivery of products across multiple channels: Modern Trade (MT), General Trade (GT), Horeca, van sales, export, and other distribution channels.
Strategic Planning & Optimisation:
Develop and implement strategies to optimise first-mile to last-mile delivery performance across all channels.
Impact upstream decisions (forecast, production planning, inventory levels) so as to optimise logistics performance downstream
Align delivery strategy to commercial strategy
Analyse and improve routing, load planning, and distribution networks to reduce costs and improve service levels.
Lead logistics strategy for new operational sites, including the Mwea plant, Tanzania manufacturing site, and the Babdoga Depot, avoiding duplication of effort.
Identify opportunities to scale export operations, particularly outside East Africa, to maximise revenue and market reach.
Operational Leadership:
Manage, mentor, and develop a high-performing logistics and fleet management team – leverage all assets, fleet, transporters, depots and plants
Set and monitor KPIs for logistics efficiency, cost, and customer satisfaction.
Delegate operational issues so at to focus on strategy.
Ensure compliance with all legal, safety, and environmental regulations.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Management:
Work closely with commercial, production, and inbound supply chain teams to align logistics strategy with business objectives.
Collaborate with third-party transporters and logistics partners to ensure service excellence.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with key customers and partners to support service delivery and commercial objectives.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field; a Master’s degree is a plus.
Minimum of 8–10 years of experience in logistics management, preferably within FMCG, with exposure to multi-channel distribution.
Proven experience in fleet management, transport optimisation, and international export logistics.
Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
Proficiency in logistics software, route optimisation tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to travel across operational sites in Kenya, East Africa, and internationally as required.
